As much as I think Jeff frequently veers off into baseball irrationality, and I hate to see anything good happen for the Tigers franchise, I agree that they absolutely should have declared Galarraga's effort a perfect game. Everyone knows it was one, why must we pretend otherwise? It'd be easy enough to fix with a one-time declaration, and that doesn't mean that every close play at any base in any game is subject to after-the-fact review. In this case it would just be easy enough to make it right. If they did change it, is anyone looking through the record books in the future really going to say "This one shouldn't even count, the umpire screwed it up and it should have stayed screwed up, I can't believe that MLB had the audacity to fix his blatantly missed call"? I doubt it.
In other news, I'll take Pierzynski for C4S.
boys - where do you stand on our beloved Q? at what point do we have to accept that his near-MVP season was a fluke, and that maybe he's just never going to be that good again? the guy turns 28 this year; he should be having the best years of his career, but instead he just seems to be a bigger mess than ever.
i love Q for carrying us to the 2008 playoffs, but that can only go so far. how much more slack do you cut him?
